H.E Mm Parikhan Shawky ,Ambassador of the republic of Iraq in Bern meets Minister of Economic Affairs, Energy and Environment of the Canton Bern.

On Tuesday, 6th July 2021, H.E Mm Parikhan Shawky , Ambassador of the republic of Iraq in Bern met with the Minister of Economic Affairs, Energy and Environment in the Canton of Bern, Mr. Christoph Amann.

During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between Iraq and Switzerland and means to enhance them.

The ambassador spoke about the governmental program in the economic field, pointing out that the Iraqi government adopted the white paper on economic reforms with the aim of setting a clear road map for reforming and developing the Iraqi economy and addressing the challenges it faces.

The ambassador submitted a copy of the white paper in English to Mr. Amann for viewing. The ambassador also indicated that Iraq has achieved a number of positive developments on the economic level over the past years, despite the economic challenges, including the lowered in global oil prices and the cost of the war on terrorism, reconstruction and return of the displaced.

The Ambassador also cleared that Iraq is characterized by human and material resources that are highly reliable in achieving development in Iraq, as well as the availability of many investment opportunities in various sectors with different investment patterns.

Mr. Christophe Amann expressed his gratitude to the Ambassador for the information, and promised to work on creating joint cooperation between Iraq and Switzerland in the economic field as well as in the field of investment, expressing his great welcome to the strengthening of joint cooperation with Iraq.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the ambassador thanked Mr. Christophe Amann for the warm reception, and expressed the embassy’s readiness to work together to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
