Ambassador of Iraq to Bulgaria Meets President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry
The Ambassador of Iraq to Bulgaria, Mrs. Lina Jalal Omar, met the President of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry Mr. Tsvetan Simeonov at the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry building in Sofia on 15 March 2021.
During the meeting, Mrs. Omar indicated the importance of turning the available investment opportunities and possibilities between the two countries into realistic projects, as well as the importance of expanding areas of joint cooperation and enhancing shared investments, which will positively affect all economic sectors, and the need to activate the Memorandum of Understanding between the Iraqi and Bulgarian chambers, as it will be an effective step to revive trade relations between the two countries.
Mrs. Omar expressed her desire to establish a forum for Iraqi businessmen with the participation of the Bulgarian Ministry of Economy and the Investment Agency and the Bulgarian companies in Iraq, in addition to coordination to meet with Iraqi officials, and to benefit from the Bulgarian market as a new and competitive market.
For his part, Mr. Semenov pointed out the importance of developing the trade exchange between the two countries, especially since the two countries had great economic relations in the 1980s, and stressed that his country has capabilities and advantages in attracting capital and foreign investment, especially after its accession to the European Union in 2007.
Mr. Semenov welcomed the proposed forum of businessmen to be held in Iraq with the participation of the Bulgarian governmental and private sectors and the relevant Iraqi ministries under the auspices of the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Iraqi embassy in Bulgaria.
