القنصلية العامة لجمهورية العراق في هيوستن – تكساس تحيي يوم السيادة والعيد الوطني العراقي
أقامت القنصلية العامة لجمهورية العراق في هيوستن – تكساس، يوم الاثنين الموافق 5 تشرين الاول 2026، وقفةً وطنية بمناسبة يوم السيادة والعيد الوطني العراقي.
وألقى القائم بالاعمال المؤقت السيد قتيبه خالد صالح كلمة بهذه المناسبة، استُذكر فيها أهمية يوم السيادة والعيد الوطني في تاريخ العراق، وما تحمله هذه المناسبة من معانٍ وطنية تجسد اعتزاز أبناء الشعب العراقي بوطنهم وسيادته ووحدته، ومعنى أن يكون للعراق قراره وإرادته ومكانته، وفي الوقت ذاته التضحيات الكبيرة التي قدمها أبناء العراق من أجل حماية الوطن والدفاع عن أرضه وأمنه وكرامته.
وتناولت الكلمة التضحيات التي قدمها أبناء العراق على مر تاريخه، ولا سيما تضحيات الشهداء في سبيل الدفاع عن الوطن وحماية أمنه وسيادته، مؤكداً أن هذه المناسبات الوطنية تمثل فرصة لاستذكار تلك التضحيات وتجديد الاعتزاز بالعراق وتاريخه وإرثه الحضاري.
واشار الى أن العلم العراقي يمثل رمزًا يجمع ابناء الشعب العراقي جميعًا؛ فعندما يرتفع علم العراق، ترتفع معه مشاعر الانتماء والاعتزاز بوطنٍ واحد، يجمع أبناءه على اختلاف مكوناتهم وأطيافهم تحت راية واحدة، وفي ظل هوية وطنية جامعة. واكد أن العراقيين اثبتوا، في مختلف الظروف والتحديات، أن إرادة هذا الشعب أقوى من الصعاب، وأن العراق قادر على النهوض والمضي نحو مستقبل أكثر أمنًا واستقرارًا وازدهارًا.
وفي ختام كلمته، اشار السيد القائم بالأعمال إلى ان هذه المناسبة تمثل وقفة إجلال أمام شهداء العراق الذين قدموا أرواحهم من أجل أن يبقى هذا الوطن شامخًا، وتحية لعوائلهم التي تحملت الألم والفقد وقدمت أعز ما لديها من أجل العراق، مؤكداً إن مسؤوليتنا اليوم تتمثل في العمل من أجل المستقبل؛ مستقبلٍ يليق بتاريخ العراق، ويحفظ سيادته، ويعزز وحدته، ويمنح أبناءه الأمل والفرص التي يستحقونها.
The Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Houston, Texas, Commemorates Sovereignty Day and Iraqi National Day
The Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Houston, Texas, held a national ceremony on Monday, October 5, 2026, to commemorate Iraqi Sovereignty Day and Iraqi National Day.
The Acting Chargé d’Affaires, Mr. Qutaiba Khaled Salih, delivered a speech on the occasion, highlighting the significance of Sovereignty Day and Iraqi National Day in Iraq’s history and the profound national meanings embodied by this occasion. He emphasized the pride of the Iraqi people in their homeland, sovereignty, and unity, as well as the importance of Iraq having its own decision, will, and rightful place among nations. He also underscored the great sacrifices made by the people of Iraq to protect the homeland and defend its land, security, and dignity.
The speech addressed the sacrifices made by the Iraqi people throughout the country’s history, particularly the sacrifices of the martyrs who gave their lives in defense of the homeland and in protection of its security and sovereignty. He affirmed that such national occasions provide an opportunity to honor those sacrifices and to renew our pride in Iraq, its history, and its rich civilizational heritage.
Mr. Salih noted that the Iraqi flag represents a symbol that unites all members of the Iraqi people. When the Iraqi flag is raised, it evokes a profound sense of belonging and pride in one homeland, bringing together its people, despite their diverse components and backgrounds, under one flag and within a shared national identity. He affirmed that Iraqis have demonstrated, throughout different circumstances and challenges, that the will of the Iraqi people is stronger than adversity, and that Iraq is capable of rising and moving forward toward a future that is more secure, stable, and prosperous.
Concluding his remarks, the Acting Chargé d’Affaires stated that this occasion represents a moment of solemn tribute to the martyrs of Iraq who gave their lives so that the homeland may remain strong and proud. He also paid tribute to their families, who endured the pain of loss and sacrificed what was most precious to them for the sake of Iraq.
He emphasized that our responsibility today is to work toward the future—a future worthy of Iraq’s history, one that preserves its sovereignty, strengthens its unity, and provides its people with the hope and opportunities they deserve.
