القائم بالأعمال المؤقت يشارك في زيارة ميدانية الى قناة هيوستن الملاحية
شارك القائم بالأعمال المؤقت في القنصلية العامة لجمهورية العراق في تكساس – هيوستن، السيد قتيبة خالد صالح، يوم الجمعة الموافق 24 تشرين الأول 2025، في زيارة ميدانية إلى قناة هيوستن الملاحية (Houston Ship Channel) في ولاية تكساس، والتي نظمها السلك القنصلي في هيوستن، وذلك للاطلاع على الدور الحيوي الذي تؤديه القناة في دعم الاقتصاد الامريكي، كونها تُعد من أهم الممرات الصناعية في مدينة هيوستن، إذ تربط بين خليج المكسيك وميناء هيوستن والمنشآت الصناعية المحيطة.
وخلال الزيارة، استمع القائم بالأعمال إلى شرحٍ مفصل حول الأنشطة الصناعية الممتدة على جانبي القناة، والتي تضم عشرات مصافي النفط العملاقة مثل ExxonMobil Refinery وShell Deer Park وValero Refinery وChevron Phillips، حيث تقوم هذه المصافي بتكرير النفط الخام وتحويله إلى وقود ومنتجات بتروكيميائية متنوعة، بالاضافة الى عرض تقديمي حول المصانع الكيميائية والبلاستيكية التي تنتج مواد أساسية مثل الإيثيلين والبوليثيلين والبلاستيك المستخدم في مختلف الصناعات.
The Chargé d’Affaires a.i at the Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Texas – Houston, Mr. Qutaiba Khaled Salih, participated on Friday, October 24, 2025, in a field visit to the Houston Ship Channel in the State of Texas, organized by the Consular Corps in Houston. The visit aimed to learn about the vital role the channel plays in supporting the U.S. economy, as it is considered one of the most important industrial waterways in the city of Houston, linking the Gulf of Mexico with the Port of Houston and the surrounding industrial facilities.
During the visit, the Chargé d’Affaires a.i received a detailed briefing on the industrial activities along both sides of the channel, which include several major oil refineries such as ExxonMobil Refinery, Shell Deer Park, Valero Refinery, and Chevron Phillips. These facilities refine crude oil and convert it into fuel and various petrochemical products. The program also included a presentation on chemical and plastic manufacturing plants, which produce essential materials such as ethylene, polyethylene, and plastic used in various industries.
