The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq expresses its concern over the continuing tensions and developments affecting the security of maritime navigation in the region, and the repercussions that may affect regional security and stability, as well as the movement of international trade

The Ministry stresses the importance of abiding by the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations, respecting the sovereignty of States and good neighbourliness, and refraining from any measures that would escalate tension or compromise the security and safety of maritime navigation

The Republic of Iraq also reaffirms the need to respect the sovereignty of States and not to be exposed to their security and stability, in order to contribute to the consolidation of regional security and enhance mutual trust among the countries of the region

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for the adoption of dialogue and diplomatic means to address differences, it affirms Iraq’s support for all efforts aimed at de-escalation, maintaining the security and stability of the region, and preserving the common interests of its peoples
