وزير الخارجية فؤاد حسين يلتقي ولي عهد دولة الكويت ويؤكد أولوية تطوير العلاقات الثنائية وتسوية الملفات العالقة بالحوار

التقى وزير الخارجية، السيد فؤاد حسين، يوم الأربعاء الموافق 8 تموز 2026، ولي عهد دولة الكويت، سمو الشيخ صباح خالد الحمد الصباح، وذلك خلال زيارته الرسمية إلى دولة الكويت.

وجرى خلال اللقاء بحث العلاقات الثنائية بين البلدين الشقيقين، حيث نقل السيد الوزير تحيات الحكومة العراقية إلى القيادة الكويتية، مؤكداً حرص العراق على تعزيز التعاون المشترك والارتقاء بالعلاقات الثنائية بما يخدم مصالح البلدين والشعبين الشقيقين.

كما تناول الجانبان تطورات الأوضاع الدولية والإقليمية، والتحديات التي تواجه المنطقة، إلى جانب تبادل وجهات النظر بشأن أبرز القضايا ذات الاهتمام المشترك.

واستعرض السيد فؤاد حسين رؤية الحكومة العراقية وتوجهاتها في المرحلة المقبلة، مشيراً إلى التحديات الأمنية الخطيرة التي شهدتها المنطقة وانعكاساتها على العراق، وما ترتب عليها من آثار أمنية واقتصادية، فضلاً عن تأثيرها في علاقات العراق مع عدد من دول المنطقة، ولا سيما دول الخليج. وأكد أن الحكومة العراقية تضع، في مرحلة ما بعد الحرب، أولوية عاجلة لترميم وتعزيز علاقاتها مع دول الخليج ودول المنطقة، وفي مقدمتها دولة الكويت.

وجدد السيد الوزير تأكيد التزام العراق باحترام سيادة دولة الكويت، وأن القانون الدولي وقرارات مجلس الأمن الدولي يمثلان المرجعية الأساسية في تنظيم العلاقات بين البلدين، مشدداً على أهمية تسوية الملفات العالقة بروح التعاون والحوار، وبما يحفظ العلاقات الأخوية ويعزز الاستقرار بين البلدين الشقيقين.

وأشار إلى أن الحكومة العراقية تؤمن بأنه لا بديل عن الحوار مع الأشقاء في دولة الكويت، وبضرورة الإسراع في حسم الملفات الفنية العالقة بما يسهم في ترسيخ الثقة المتبادلة واستقرار العلاقات الثنائية.

من جانبه، أكد سمو ولي عهد دولة الكويت أهمية ما طرحه السيد الوزير، مشيداً باعتماد القانون الدولي مرجعيةً للعلاقات بين البلدين، ومثمناً الزيارة الرسمية التي يقوم بها السيد فؤاد حسين، ومعرباً عن ثقته بأنها ستفتح آفاقاً إيجابية جديدة للتعاون بما يخدم مصالح الشعبين الشقيقين.

وأكد الجانبان أهمية تعزيز التعاون الأمني، وتكثيف الزيارات المتبادلة، وتطوير آليات التنسيق المشترك بما يسهم في حماية العلاقات الثنائية وتجنيبها أي عوامل قد تؤثر فيها.

كما تطرق اللقاء إلى الحوادث الأمنية التي تعرض لها عدد من الصيادين العراقيين في المياه الكويتية، حيث أكد السيد الوزير ضرورة اتخاذ الإجراءات الكفيلة بتجنب تكرار مثل هذه الحوادث المؤسفة. من جانبه، أعرب سمو ولي عهد دولة الكويت عن بالغ أسفه لهذه الحوادث، مؤكداً أهمية التعاون والتنسيق المشترك بين الجهات المختصة في البلدين لمنع تكرارها مستقبلاً.

FM Fuad Hussein Meets the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait and Affirms the Priority of Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Resolving Outstanding Issues Through Dialogue

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with the Crown Prince of the State of Kuwait, H.H. Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, during his official visit to the State of Kuwait.

During the meeting, the two sides reviewed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries. H.E. the Minister conveyed the greetings of the Iraqi Government to the Kuwaiti leadership, reaffirming Iraq’s commitment to strengthening joint cooperation and advancing bilateral relations in a manner that serves the interests of both countries and their brotherly peoples.

The discussions also covered regional and international developments, the challenges facing the region, and an exchange of views on the most prominent issues of mutual interest.

H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein outlined the Iraqi Government’s vision and priorities for the next phase, referring to the serious security challenges the region has witnessed and their repercussions for Iraq, including their security and economic impacts, as well as their effect on Iraq’s relations with a number of countries in the region, particularly the Gulf states. H.E. stressed that, in the post-war period, the Iraqi Government considers restoring and strengthening its relations with the Gulf countries and the countries of the region—foremost among them the State of Kuwait—to be an urgent priority.

H.E. the Minister reiterated the Republic of Iraq’s commitment to respecting the sovereignty of the State of Kuwait, emphasizing that international law and the resolutions of the United Nations Security Council constitute the fundamental framework governing relations between the two countries. H.E. underscored the importance of resolving outstanding issues through a spirit of cooperation and dialogue in a manner that preserves the fraternal relationship and promotes stability between the two brotherly nations.

H.E. further stressed that the Iraqi Government believes there is no alternative to dialogue with its brothers in the State of Kuwait and highlighted the need to expedite the resolution of the remaining technical issues in order to enhance mutual confidence and ensure the stability of bilateral relations.

For his part, H.H. the Crown Prince welcomed the Minister’s remarks, commending Iraq’s reliance on international law as the basis for bilateral relations. H.H. also praised Mr. Fuad Hussein’s official visit and expressed confidence that it would open new and positive avenues for cooperation in the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

Both sides emphasized the importance of enhancing security cooperation, increasing the exchange of official visits, and developing mechanisms for joint coordination in a way that safeguards bilateral relations and shields them from factors that could adversely affect them.

The meeting also addressed the security incidents involving a number of Iraqi fishermen in Kuwaiti waters. H.E. the Minister stressed the need to take the necessary measures to prevent the recurrence of such unfortunate incidents. In response, H.H. the Crown Prince expressed his deep regret over these incidents and underscored the importance of cooperation and coordination between the competent authorities in both countries to prevent similar incidents in the future.
