قدّم نائب رئيس مجلس الوزراء وزير الخارجية السيد فؤاد حسين، خالص تعازيه ومواساته إلى العالم المسيحي والكرسي الرسولي، برحيل قداسة البابا فرنسيس، بابا الفاتيكان، الذي وافته المنية بعد مسيرة حافلة بالعطاء الإنساني والديني.

وأشاد السيد الوزير بالدور البارز الذي اضطلع به الراحل في تعزيز قيم التسامح والسلام والحوار بين الأديان، مشيراً إلى أن قداسة البابا كان رمزاً للإنسانية وصوتاً داعماً لكل الشعوب في مختلف أنحاء العالم، وبالأخص مواقفه النبيلة تجاه الشعب العراقي وزيارته التاريخية إلى العراق التي تركت أثراً بالغاً في النفوس.

وأكد السيد فؤاد حسين تضامن العراق حكومةً وشعباً مع الفاتيكان وأتباع الكنيسة الكاثوليكية في هذا المصاب الجلل، سائلاً المولى عزّ وجل أن يتغمد الراحل الكبير بواسع رحمته، ويلهم محبيه في العالم أجمع الصبر والسلوان.
