 إنَّ المقتنيات الأثرية والتراثية التي بحوزة المواطنين العراقيين والبريطانيين وبقيّة الجنسيّات من المقيمين على أرض المملكة المتحدة لها أهمية كبيرة على المستوى الوطني والعالمي بوصفها واحدة من أهم أسس الهوية الوطنية التي نعتز بها والتي توحدنا كعراقيين، وكونها تراثاً بشرياً يختص بحضارة أصيلة هي حضارة وادي الرافدين، تحثُّ السفارة العراقية إرجاع كافة الآثار والمقتنيات التراثية والثقافية العراقية، الى السفارة، ولا سيّما بعد تدمير عصابات داعش الإرهابية للكثير من المواقع الأثرية في العراق، وما تتعرض له المواقع الأثرية من النبش العشوائي غير القانوني.

    The archaeological and heritage artefacts that the Iraqi and British citizens and other nationalities residing in the United Kingdom are holding, are of great importance nationally and globally. They are one of the most important foundations of the national identity and unity that we are proud of as Iraqis, and as a human heritage related to an authentic civilization, the Mesopotamia. Accordingly, the Iraqi Embassy urges all to return the Iraqi heritage and cultural antiquities and artefacts to the Embassy, taking into consideration the destruction by Da’esh terrorist gangs of many archaeological sites in Iraq, and the random and illegal excavations that archaeological sites are exposed to.
