The Chargé d’Affaires interim, Mr. Mohammed Falih Hammood met a delegation from the Malaysian Travel Agency Association led by the association’s Secretary-General, Mustaqim Musa, at the embassy on Tuesday, 15 October 2024.
At the beginning of the meeting, the President of the Association expressed his gratitude to the embassy for facilitating the visit and providing the opportunity to conduct this discussion, which aimed to explore future cooperation prospects with Iraqi counterparts in the tourism sector, benefiting both friendly nations.
In response, the Chargé d’Affaires interim thanked the delegation for their visit and for presenting proposals in the tourism field. He expressed a willingness to cooperate with the association by promoting their initiatives through Iraq’s official diplomatic channels to arrange mutual visits between the two countries and discuss ways to revitalize the tourism sector while showcasing Iraq’s cultural, archaeological and historical sites.
He noted that travel between the two countries has become more reliable since the reopening of the air route between Iraq and Malaysia in February along with the recent Iraqi government decision to grant Malaysian citizens entry visas at border crossings.
