REOPENING OF IRAQI AIRWAYS OFFICE IN KUALA LUMPUR
On Friday 2nd February 2024 the Chargé d’Affairs Mr. Mohammed Falih Hammood officiated the opening of Iraqi Airways office in Kuala Lumpur, after its closure in 2020 due to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic. The occasion was celebrated with attendance of the supervisory committee members from Iraqi Airways, staff from the embassy, as well as a number of the Iraqi diaspora residing in Malaysia.
During the celebration, the office advertised its readiness to receive flight reservations and bookings. The system of the office operation was also discussed and the services that is offered to ease the process of obtaining the required bookings. The Manager explained the nature of the office work that was prepared in accordance to the approved international specifications, including the best software to reserve and book flights.
Subsequently, the Chargé d’Affairs presented the embassy’s readiness to provide all possible assistance in order to back up the office’s work and success especially for the Iraqi diaspora residing in Malaysia and all travelers in general.
It is noteworthy that the Iraqi plane of the model Boeing (Dreamliner 787) landed at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport on Friday 10:30 am, announcing the resumption of Baghdad-Kuala Lumpur direct flight, with the frequency of once a week (round-trip). Increasing the number of flights will be studied in the future in light of the need.
These steps are apart of the Iraqi Ministry of Transport mission to expand its international airlines to open up to countries around the world, and enhance economic relations with them, including Malaysia.
