The Ambassador of the Republic of Iraq in Islamabad receives the former President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari at the embassy headquarters

H.E. Ambassador Hamid Abbas Lafta, Head of the Iraqi Mission in Islamabad, has welcomed Mr. Asif Ali Zardari, leader of the Pakistan People’s Party (Former President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan) and received him at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Pakistan on 25/10/2021.

Mr. Asif Zardari expressed his happiness for the good reception, stressing upon the depth of brotherly relations and the common Islamic and historical bonds between the Iraqi and Pakistani Peoples in historical terms. Both sides also discussed political and economic issues happening on the Iraqi-Pakistani arena through the role of political parties in drawing future plans in both countries. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Saleem Mandviwalla, the former Deputy Chairman of the Pakistani Senate, and Mrs. Palwasha Khan, pakistani Senator.

Mr. Asif Zardari concluded his meeting with words of thanks and gratitude to His Excellency for the role of the Iraqi Embassy in facilitating and mitigating the consequences for Pakistani visitors of all sects visiting religious shrines in Iraq.
