The Consul General of the Republic of Iraq in Glasgow: Academic and scientific cooperation with the University of Glasgow.

The Consul General of the Republic of Iraq in Glasgow, Mr Aws Mahmoud Agha, met with the University of Glasgow’s Vice-Principal for External Relations, Dr Rachel Sanderson, to discuss ways of facilitating and streamlining procedures for Iraqi students currently enrolled at the University, increasing the number of places available to them, and creating additional opportunities for Iraqi students wishing to study at the University.

The meeting also focused on providing the necessary support to help Iraqi students maintain and further their academic and scientific achievements.

During the meeting, held at the University of Glasgow on Tuesday, 1 September 2026, the Consul General stressed the importance of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between Iraqi universities and the University of Glasgow, as well as exploring new avenues of cooperation with the Institute of Foreign Service at the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Dr Sanderson, for her part, welcomed the Consulate’s efforts to follow up on the affairs and needs of Iraqi students and support them throughout their studies.

Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination and cooperation in support of Iraqi students and to help ensure the success of their academic journeys.
