The International Forum on Food Safety and Trade
The Iraqi Minister of Agriculture, His Excellency Dr. Saleh al-Hassani participated in the International Forum on Food Safety and Trade that was held in Geneva from 23rd-24th April 2019, under the auspices of FAO, WTO, WHO and the African Union. Chargé d’affaires at the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Iraq to the United Nations Office in Geneva, Dr Abbas Kadhom Obaid and Ms Zahra al-Humiri, Third Secretary at the Mission accompanied the Iraqi delegation.
H.E Dr. al-Hassani delivered the statement of the Republic of Iraq, in which he outlined that the Ministry of Agriculture has prepared plans to increase production of strategic crops, reduce salinity and the re-operation of areas liberated from the terrorist gangs, as well as the endeavor to achieve the objectives of the sustainable development goals, raising capacities of workers with a view to reduce poverty, provide food security, good nutrition, food safety from pollutants, livestock and fodder safety to reduce infection and control of common human and animal diseases.
