Meeting between the Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee, Dr. Dylan Ghafoor Saleh, and the Chairman of the Iraqi-Romanian Friendship Committee to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation.

Chairperson of the Foreign Relations Committee, Dr. Dylan Ghafoor Saleh, along with Members of Parliament Dr. Haider Al-Salami, Dr. Mohammed Sadiq Mohammed, and Dr. Aryan Aziz, met on Monday, March 18th, with the Chairman of the Iraqi-Romanian Friendship Committee, Senator Cristian Augustin, at the Romanian Senate headquarters in the capital, Bucharest. The meeting discussed activating the parliamentary friendship committee between the two countries and learning from Romania’s legislative and oversight experience. The Iraqi parliamentary delegation emphasized the importance of comprehensive cooperation and urged the Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee to encourage investment in Iraq, given the improved security situation. Proposals were presented to enhance relations, including providing scholarships for Iraqi students to study in Romania and promoting academic exchange between Iraqi and Romanian universities. The Chairman of the Iraqi-Romanian Friendship Committee welcomed the proposals, stressing their importance for consideration and implementation by the Romanian government, noting the serious interest of Romanian companies in operating in Iraq. Also present at the meeting was the Acting Chargé d’Affaires, Dr. Alaa Al-Saadi, who participated in the discussions and expressed support for strengthening bilateral relations between Iraq and Romania.
