The head of the Asia and Australia Department meets the Chinese ambassador in Baghdad
Ambassador Dr. Hisham Al-Alawi, Head of the Asia and Australia Department, met with the Chinese Ambassador to Baghdad, Mr. Cui Wei, on Thursday, 11/24/2022, at the Ministry’s headquarters.
The two sides stressed the need to intensify efforts to develop bilateral relations, and continuous coordination to strengthen cooperation in areas and issues of common interest to serve the interests of the two countries.
Ambassador Al-Alawi stressed Iraq’s interest in expanding the strategic partnership between the two countries, and supporting the work of all Chinese institutions and companies operating in Iraq in a way that contributes to achieving the government’s priorities and sustainable development. His Excellency also thanked the continuous Chinese support for Iraq in all fields.
For his part, the Chinese ambassador stressed that his country attaches special importance to Iraq’s participation in the Arab-Chinese summit to be held in Riyadh on 12/9/2022, as it is the first summit at the regional level, and it is a historic opportunity for officials in the two countries to discuss ways to improve bilateral relations and play a role Important in strengthening Arab-Chinese relations.
The two sides also agreed to proceed with the follow-up and implementation of memorandums of understanding and agreements signed between the two countries and the outputs of political consultations.
