Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations Receives Head of the International Investigation Team (UNITAD)
Dr Qahtan Taha Khalaf, the Undersecretary for Legal Affairs and Multilateral Relations, the President of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC), has received Mr Christian Richard, the Head of the International Investigation Team (UNITAD) and the accompanying delegation at the Ministry’s headquarters.
During the meeting, they discussed means of bilateral cooperation and means to intensify efforts for joint action to hold ISIS terrorist gangs accountable at the international level and to publicize the crimes they committed on the global and regional levels. The two sides affirmed the support of the national authorities in several files in this regard.
The Undersecretary also emphasized the supportive role of the National Coordinating Committee (NCC) for the mission of the (UNITAD) team in order to achieve the main goal which was behind the founding of the team in accordance with UN Security Council Resolution No( 2379) of 2017, and to fulfil its mandate entrusted with it in terms of specializing the team and implementing its programmes in this regard to build up Iraqi capabilities and benefiting from the results of the investigation into the crimes of ISIS terrorist gangs.
In conclusion, the Undersecretary confirmed to the international investigation team Iraq’s keenness to exert further cooperation in order to make the team’s mission a success. He also extended his thanks to the head of the team and the accompanying delegation for their efforts in the investigations, wishing Mr Richard success in his new position assigned to him.
