The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq expresses its support for the nomination of Ms. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh by the sisterly United Arab Emirates for the position of Secretary-General of the United Nations, in recognition of her extensive diplomatic experience, distinguished professional career, and significant contributions to international cooperation.

The Ministry affirms its confidence in Ms. Lana Zaki Nusseibeh’s ability to contribute to improving the performance of the United Nations and enhancing its effectiveness in responding to current global challenges, thereby supporting multilateral international cooperation and strengthening the Organization’s role in maintaining international peace and security.

In this context, the Republic of Iraq reiterates its commitment to supporting multilateralism, strengthening the role of the United Nations in addressing international crises, and upholding the principles of dialogue and cooperation among nations, with a view to achieving international peace and stability and enhancing Arab representation in positions of international responsibility.
