Foreign Minister Discusses Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments with Iranian Counterpart

Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr Fuad Hussein held a telephone conversation on Monday, 12 October 2026, with the Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mr Abbas Araghchi, to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to strengthen mutual cooperation.

The two sides exchanged views on preparations for the forthcoming meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Member States of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), which is scheduled to take place in Baghdad next week.

The conversation also addressed regional developments, with both sides emphasising the importance of returning to the negotiating table in a manner that would help contain tensions and enhance regional security and stability.
