FM Discusses Regional Developments with UN Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security

H.E. Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mr Fuad Hussein, met on Thursday, 24 September 2026, with the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Safety and Security, Ms. Jeanine Hennis-Plasschaert, at her office at UN Headquarters in New York.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed developments in the region and reviewed ways to enhance cooperation and coordination between the Republic of Iraq and the UN. They also exchanged views on the importance of maintaining consultation and communication and strengthening joint efforts in support of security and stability in the region.

The Minister affirmed Iraq’s keenness to continue cooperation and coordination with the UN and to support efforts aimed at addressing regional challenges through dialogue and diplomatic means, in a manner that contributes to enhancing security and stability.
