Minister of Foreign Affairs Receives Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister on Sidelines of Arab League Council Meeting
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait, H.E. Mr. Hamad Al-Mashaan, at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo on Monday, 7 September 2026, on the sidelines of the 166th ordinary session of the Council of the League of Arab States at ministerial level.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the State of Kuwait and ways to strengthen joint cooperation in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two countries and their brotherly peoples.
H.E. Mr. Al-Mashaan conveyed the greetings of the Kuwaiti Minister of Foreign Affairs to H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, expressing his apologies for being unable to participate in the meeting due to prior commitments.
H.E. the Minister also highlighted the importance of the forthcoming meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, which will be hosted by the Republic of Iraq next October, stressing the importance of strengthening coordination and cooperation among Islamic countries in addressing common issues and challenges.
The meeting also addressed developments in the region and the ongoing tensions between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the United States of America, as well as their potential repercussions for the security and stability of the region and the interests of its countries and peoples, in addition to their economic and security implications.
H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein stressed the importance of calling for dialogue and the need to reach a common vision that would contribute to addressing the crisis. His excellency underscored the importance of opening channels of communication and dialogue between the parties concerned, prioritising diplomatic and peaceful solutions, reducing escalation and preventing the region from facing the repercussions of any potential conflict.
