Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Legal Affairs Receives Iranian Ambassador to Iraq

Deputy Minister for Multilateral and Legal Affairs, H.E. Ambassador Shorsh Khalid Saeed, received the Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Mohammad Kazem Al-e Sadegh, to seek clarification regarding posts published by some Iranian diplomatic missions abroad concerning maps of the region, as well as the positions and comments accompanying them, which were inconsistent with the depth of relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, H.E. the Deputy Minister stressed the importance of continuing consultations and coordination between the two sides regarding current developments and their repercussions for the countries of the region, particularly Iraq. H.E. emphasized the need to address outstanding regional disputes and issues through diplomatic channels and dialogue, in a manner that contributes to enhancing regional security and stability.

The two sides also discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations through reciprocal visits, enhance coordination in international forums and organizations, and develop frameworks for cooperation in the political, economic, and security fields, in a manner that serves the mutual interests of the two countries and their friendly peoples.

For his part, the Iranian Ambassador affirmed his country’s readiness to continue cooperation and coordination with Iraq across various fields, highlighting the depth of the historical and social ties between the two countries and the importance of continuing meetings and consultations on issues of mutual interest.
