FM Discusses Enhancing Services for the Iraqi Community Abroad with Senior Officials from the Ministry of Interior

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received on Monday, 10 August 2026, the Senior Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Interior, H.E. Dr. Hussein Al-Awadi, and the Director General of the Directorate of Civil Status, Passports and Residence, Lieutenant General Nishtat Al-Khafaji.

The meeting focused on ways to strengthen cooperation and coordination between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Interior, in a manner that contributes to enhancing the services provided to members of the Iraqi community abroad and facilitating the completion of their procedures.

The meeting also discussed efforts to remove obstacles facing the issuance of passports and National ID Cards for Iraqi citizens abroad, in addition to expanding passport and National ID Card issuance stations and establishing new stations to cover areas where such services are not currently available.

In this context, the two sides emphasized the opening of new passport and National ID Card issuance stations in a number of capitals and cities around the world, including France, Sweden, and Los Angeles, thereby expanding the scope of consular services, facilitating Iraqi citizens abroad’s access to official documents, and reducing the time and effort required to complete their procedures.
