FM Fuad Hussein Discusses Strengthening Joint Arab Action and Regional Coordination with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, held on Sunday, 2 August 2026, a phone call with the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, H.E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy.

At the outset of the call, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein renewed his congratulations to H.E. Mr. Nabil Fahmy on his appointment as Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, wishing him every success in his new responsibilities and expressing confidence that his tenure would contribute to strengthening the role of the League and advancing joint Arab action.

The two sides discussed the Amman Conference on Jerusalem, scheduled to be held on Wednesday, emphasizing the importance of its outcomes in supporting the city of Jerusalem and reinforcing Arab and Islamic efforts aimed at preserving its identity and status.

The two sides also discussed Iraq–Gulf relations, underscoring the importance of continuing to enhance them in a manner that serves mutual interests and contributes to regional stability and cooperation.

For his part, H.E. the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States stressed the importance of unifying efforts and strengthening collective Arab action to address the significant challenges facing the region.

H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein reaffirmed the importance of maintaining communication and coordination between Iraq and the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States across various fields, reflecting their shared commitment to supporting joint Arab action and enhancing cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the Arab States and their peoples.
