FM Meets French Ambassador on the Occasion of the Conclusion of His Diplomatic Mission in Iraq

Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with the Ambassador of the French Republic to the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Patrick Durel, on Wednesday, 22 July 2026, on the occasion of the conclusion of his diplomatic mission in Iraq.

H.E. the Minister commended the French Ambassador’s active diplomatic role and the efforts he made throughout his tenure, which contributed significantly to strengthening and advancing Iraq–France relations.

H.E. the Minister expressed his appreciation to Ambassador Durel for his efforts in enhancing bilateral relations and wished him every success in his new assignment as Ambassador of the French Republic to the Lebanese Republic.

For his part, the French Ambassador expressed his sincere appreciation to H.E. the Minister and MOFA for the cooperation and support extended to him throughout his tenure in Iraq, expressing his pride in the progress achieved in Iraq–France relations, and continuity to further enhancement and development.
