FM Discusses Enhancing Services for Iraqi Communities Abroad with the Senior Deputy of the Ministry of Interior

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received on Monday, 20 July 2026, the Senior Deputy of the Ministry of Interior, Dr. Hussein Al-Awadi, at the Ministry’s headquarters.

The meeting focused on ways to enhance cooperation between the two ministries in providing services to Iraqi communities abroad and addressing the challenges facing Iraqi citizens, with the aim of enhancing the quality of services delivered to them. H.E. the Minister also called for examining the possibility of granting exemptions from certain requirements under the applicable laws, allowing the continued use of older Iraqi official documents. H.E. further stressed the importance of expanding the installation and operation of stations dedicated to issuing the National ID Card and passports.

The two sides also discussed ways to facilitate the issuance of entry visas by Iraqi diplomatic missions, particularly for investors and businesspersons.

The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a joint technical meeting between the two ministries to examine existing challenges and identify appropriate solutions, with the aim of further enhancing the quality of consular services provided to Iraqi citizens abroad.
