FM Receives Copy of Credentials of the Newly Appointed Chinese Ambassador to Iraq

Minister of Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received the newly appointed Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Xiang Bo, at the Ministry’s headquarters on Monday, 20 July 2026, where the Ambassador presented a copy of his credentials.
The Ambassador conveyed to H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein the greetings of H.E. the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The meeting focused on bilateral relations between Iraq and China and ways to further enhance them, particularly in the economic and commercial fields, in light of the presence of approximately 130 Chinese companies operating in Iraq and the growing volume of trade between the two countries.
The two sides also emphasized the importance of political coordination on regional and international issues, particularly the Palestinian cause, while commending China’s positions, which are consistent with Iraq’s stance.
H.E. the Minister praised the level of cooperation between the Iraqi and Chinese Ministries of Foreign Affairs and the role of the Chinese Embassy in Baghdad in coordinating and advancing bilateral relations, stressing the importance of continuing joint efforts to further develop cooperation.
H.E. the Minister also extended an invitation to H.E. the Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs to visit Baghdad, underscoring the importance of Iraq–China relations and affirming that MOFA will provide all necessary support to the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to ensure the success of his mission and further enhance the ties between the two friendly countries.
