FM Meets the State of Kuwait PM; Affirming the Importance of Advancing Economic Relations and Promoting Electricity Interconnection and Investment Projects

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with the Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait, H.H. Sheikh Ahmad Abdullah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, on Wednesday, 8 July 2026, as part of his official visit to the State of Kuwait.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed developments in the region and exchanged views on the most pressing regional challenges. They underscored the importance of strengthening bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ensuring that they remain free from any factors that could undermine or negatively affect their positive trajectory.
H.E. the Minister stressed the importance of advancing trade and economic relations and directing efforts toward expanding the horizons of joint cooperation, rather than prolonging outstanding issues, in a manner that serves the shared interests of both countries and promotes development and prosperity.
Both sides also emphasized the need to avoid anything that could adversely affect economic relations between Iraq and Kuwait and highlighted the importance of implementing existing mutual understandings, particularly in the fields of electricity interconnection, investment, and economic projects of common interest. They noted that these efforts would help consolidate the bilateral partnership and achieve mutual benefits.
The meeting concluded with both sides reaffirming their commitment to continuing coordination and consultation, while strengthening cooperation across various fields in a manner that reinforces the fraternal ties between the two countries and contributes to the security and stability of the region.
