FM Chairs the First Meeting of the Political and Security Committee Under the Iraq–Jordan–Egypt Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, chaired the first meeting of the Political and Security Committee under the Iraq–Jordan–Egypt Trilateral Cooperation Mechanism on Tuesday, 7 July 2026. The meeting was attended by the National Security Adviser, Mr. Qasim Al-Aboudi, the Head of the National Security Service, Mr. Basim Al-Badri, as well as representatives from relevant security and military agencies and government institutions.
The meeting discussed a number of political and security issues, foremost among them strengthening political coordination among the three countries, establishing a joint mechanism to support nominations for international positions, considering the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on strategic dialogue, and enhancing security and intelligence cooperation in the areas of counterterrorism, organized crime, and cross-border threats.
Participants also reviewed several proposals concerning the preparation of memoranda of understanding on security and intelligence cooperation, as well as measures to facilitate the movement of businesspeople and investors. The outcomes of the meeting will be submitted to the upcoming trilateral meetings, with the aim of enhancing regional security and advancing mechanisms for joint Arab cooperation.
