FM Fuad Hussein Meets Syrian President Ahmad Al-Sharaa in Damascus; Discussing Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Joint Coordination

Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, met on Monday, 29 June 2026, with the President of the Syrian Arab Republic, H.E. Mr. Ahmad Al-Sharaa, at the People’s Palace in Damascus, in the presence of the Syrian Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, H.E. Mr. Asaad Hassan Al-Shaibani.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries and ways to further develop joint cooperation across various fields, in a manner that serves mutual interests and benefits the two brotherly peoples.

The two sides also reviewed the latest regional and international developments and discussed the importance of enhancing coordination and consultation between Iraq and Syria in addressing common challenges, in a way that contributes to supporting security and stability in the region.

Both sides stressed the importance of maintaining communication and bilateral coordination, and of working jointly to enhance relations between the two countries in a manner that serves their shared interests and reinforces regional stability.
