Minister of Foreign Affairs and His Kuwaiti Counterpart Stress the Importance of Strengthening Bilateral Relations and Supporting Regional Security and Stability

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, met on Monday, 22 June 2026, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the sisterly State of Kuwait, H.E. Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, on the sidelines of the Arab Consultative Meeting and the resumed 165th Ordinary Session of the Council of the League of Arab States at the Ministerial Level, hosted by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein reaffirmed Iraq’s commitment to the security and stability of the region, emphasizing that the security of the State of Kuwait and the Gulf Arab states constitutes an integral part of Iraq’s own security. He also reiterated Iraq’s rejection of attacks targeting countries in the region and its support for all efforts aimed at enhancing regional security and stability.
The meeting reviewed ways to further develop bilateral relations between the two brotherly countries in a manner that serves their mutual interests. Discussions also focused on strengthening economic cooperation, activating the work of joint committees, and underscoring the importance of continuing exchanges of visits between officials of both countries to advance cooperation and coordination.
Furthermore, H.E. the Minister outlined the vision of the Iraqi Government, led by the Prime Minister, which is based on building balanced fraternal relations with neighboring countries and regional partners, and on strengthening cooperation in support of security, stability, and shared development.
For his part, H.E. Sheikh Jarrah Al-Sabah conveyed the greetings of Kuwait’s political leadership to the Iraqi Government and congratulated Iraq on the formation of its new government. He also congratulated H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein on the renewal of confidence in him as Minister of Foreign Affairs.
The Kuwaiti Foreign Minister affirmed the depth of the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries and expressed Kuwait’s aspiration to continue strengthening bilateral cooperation across various fields in a manner that serves the interests of the two brotherly peoples.
