FM and Acting Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works Fuad Hussein Chairs Meeting on Strategic Projects and Maximizing Revenues

Minister of Foreign Affairs and Acting Minister of Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, chaired a meeting at the Ministry’s headquarters on Wednesday, 17 June 2026, attended by deputy ministers and a number of directors general, to review progress on service and strategic projects and discuss mechanisms to accelerate their completion.
The meeting reviewed ongoing projects, particularly those that remain unfinished, and examined completion rates and the challenges facing their implementation, as well as measures to address these obstacles and expedite the pace of work.
The Development Road Project and its associated implementation plans were also discussed, in addition to projects aimed at developing transport networks and regional connectivity, including highways, railways, and oil pipeline networks. These initiatives are intended to enhance infrastructure, support economic development, and reinforce Iraq’s position as a regional hub for trade, transportation, and energy.
In another area, the meeting discussed ways to maximize the Ministry’s revenues and enhance its financial resources through improving the performance of its affiliated companies and expanding opportunities for self-financing, thereby supporting project implementation and improving the efficiency of services provided to citizens.
At the conclusion of the meeting, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein stressed the importance of continuous field monitoring of projects and addressing obstacles hindering their implementation, in order to ensure their completion according to the established timelines and in line with the priorities of the government program and national development plans.
