Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Receives the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Republic of Iraq

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, received on Sunday, 10 May 2026, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of the Netherlands to Iraq, Ms. Janet Alberda, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad.

During the meeting, the two sides discussed bilateral relations between the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of the Netherlands, as well as avenues to enhance joint cooperation in various fields in a manner that serves the interests of the two friendly countries.

The two sides also discussed the latest political developments in Iraq, particularly the issue of the Iraqi government formation. H.E. the Minister reviewed the efforts being made to bring the views of the political forces closer together and the challenges facing the government formation process, stressing the importance of reaching national understandings that contribute to strengthening political and security stability in the country.

H.E. the Minister affirmed the Iraqi government’s commitment to continuing cooperation with the international community and providing a suitable environment for the work of diplomatic missions, praising the role played by the Netherlands in supporting Iraq, particularly in the humanitarian and developmental fields.

For her part, the Dutch Ambassador expressed her country’s support for Iraq’s stability, emphasizing the importance of continuing dialogue and cooperation among all parties in a way that contributes to consolidating security and stability in the region.
