Press Statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expresses the Republic of Iraq’s strong condemnation of the serious escalation represented by the targeting of energy facilities in the Pars field in the Islamic Republic of Iran, as this constitutes a direct threat to the security and stability of the region and a clear violation of the fundamental principles and rules of international law.

MOFA emphasizes that targeting critical infrastructure, particularly energy facilities, constitutes an unjustified escalation that would exacerbate regional tensions and expose economic interests and the safety of civilians to serious risks, negatively affecting the stability of global energy markets.

MOFA reiterates the steadfast position of the Republic of Iraq, calling for the avoidance of being drawn into further escalation that could lead to serious repercussions.

MOFA also stresses the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and protecting their vital infrastructure.
