Foreign Ministry Welcomes Saudi Approval of Transit Visas for Iraqi Citizens via Arar Crossing

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq expresses its appreciation to the sisterly Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for approving the request submitted by the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Riyadh regarding the issuance of transit visas for Iraqi citizens wishing to return to their homeland via Saudi territory, reaching the Arar border crossing between the two countries.

MOFA IRAQ clarifies that this step comes as a result of continuous diplomatic coordination between the Embassy of Iraq in Riyadh, the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and the relevant authorities. Official approvals were obtained to grant entry permits for the purpose of overland transit, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in the Kingdom, ensuring smooth movement through both air and land border crossings.

MOFA IRAQ emphasizes that obtaining a transit visa is done exclusively through the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Riyadh, in direct coordination with the Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the relevant authorities. Citizens wishing to benefit from this procedure are urged to contact the Crisis Cell at the Embassy or other Iraqi missions abroad in advance to complete the required formalities.

MOFA IRAQ also stresses that its diplomatic missions, particularly the Embassy of Iraq in Riyadh, will continue to monitor the situation of Iraqi citizens abroad and provide the necessary support, in coordination with the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad and the competent authorities in both countries.
