Press Statement

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq expresses its strong condemnation of the shooting incident that occurred inside a school in western Canada, resulting in the death and injury of a number of innocent people.

In this context, the Ministry reaffirms the Republic of Iraq’s firm rejection of all forms of violence targeting civilians, particularly acts that affect educational institutions, which must remain safe and secure environments dedicated to learning, growth, and the building of a better future. The Ministry further conveys its full solidarity with the friendly Government and people of Canada during this painful time and extends its sincere condolences and sympathies to the families of the victims, wishing a speedy recovery to the injured.

The Ministry reiterates the Republic of Iraq’s steadfast position calling for the renunciation of violence and extremism, and for enhancing international efforts aimed at promoting security and stability, and safeguarding societies from such tragic incidents.
