Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Discusses Bilateral Relations and Regional Developments with His French Counterpart

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein, held a phone conversation on Saturday, 17 January 2026, with the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs of the French Republic, H.E. Mr. Jean-Noël Barrot. The call addressed bilateral relations between the two countries, within the framework of enhancing mutual cooperation and advancing political and diplomatic coordination.

The discussion also covered the tense regional situation, particularly the ongoing tensions between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran, and their implications for the security and stability of the region.

The two ministers further discussed H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein’s upcoming visit to Iran and exchanged views on the positions of various countries regarding current developments, as well as the French and European perspectives on relations with Iran.
