Fuad Hussein and Hakan Fidan Discuss Regional Developments and Iraqi–Turkish Relations by Phone

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Iraq, H.E. Mr. Fuad Hussein discussed, during a phone call on Saturday, 17 January 2026, with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the friendly Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Mr. Hakan Fidan, bilateral relations between the two countries and avenues to develop them across various fields.

The call addressed regional developments, particularly the ongoing tensions between the United States of America and the Islamic Republic of Iran and their repercussions on the security and stability of the region. Minister Fuad Hussein also discussed his upcoming visit to Tehran.

The two sides further reviewed the course of political trajectory in the Republic of Iraq and the latest developments regarding the formation of the Iraqi government, stressing the importance of supporting political stability and enhancing regional cooperation in a manner that serves the interests of the countries of the region.
