Statement

The Foreign Ministry expresses the Republic of Iraq’s strong condemnation of the bombing that targeted the Syrian capital, Damascus, carried out by the Israeli entity, constituting a blatant and repeated violation of international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.

The Ministry affirms its absolute rejection of endangering the lives of Syrian civilians or exacerbate their humanitarian suffering. It emphasizes the urgent need to de-escalate tensions, as it poses a direct threat to the security and stability of the region.

The Ministry reiterates Iraq’s firm stance rejecting any aggressions that violate the sovereignty of states. As well it warns of the dangers posed by Israel’s use of pretexts or justifications as a cover to pursue expansionist objectives that undermine regional stability.

The Ministry calls on the international community to uphold its legal and humanitarian responsibilities by putting an end to these repeated violations and ensuring they are not repeated—steps that would contribute to the enhancement of regional and international peace and security.

In this context, the Ministry underscores the importance of protecting the rights of all components of the Syrian people, preserving their dignity, and ensuring their safety amidst the In light of the difficult humanitarian conditions prevailing in Syria. It also reaffirms the necessity of initiating a genuine national dialogue between the Syrian government in Damascus and representatives of the various Syrian communities to guarantee the promotion of human rights and the achievement of social cohesion.
