Statement 

The Foreign Ministry expresses its profound regret over the unfortunate incident that occurred in Sanlıurfa Province, the Republic of Turkey on Thursday 26 June 2025, which resulted in the death of two members of the Iraqi community following an altercation with a Turkish citizen.

The Consulate General of the Republic of Iraq in Gaziantep, in direct coordination with the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in Ankara, is closely following the investigation with the relevant Turkish authorities, which promptly apprehended the perpetrator following the incident, and is actively working to clarify the surrounding circumstances to ensure that justice is served.

In this context, the Ministry extends its deepest condolences and sympathies to the families of the deceased and affirms its commitment to providing the necessary humanitarian and social support. The Ministry also reiterates its commitment to  addressing the matter through diplomatic channels and in coordination with the relevant authorities in the Republic of Turkey, in a manner that safeguards the rights and dignity of Iraqi citizens.
