Undersecretary of Foreign Ministry Receives Newly Appointed Commander of NATO Mission in Iraq

The Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, received Lieutenant General Christophe Hintzy, the newly appointed Commander of the NATO Mission in Iraq (NMI), on Monday, June 23, 2025.
The meeting discussed the latest regional developments, as Undersecretary Bahr Aluloom affirmed Iraq’s condemnation of the use of its airspace to carry out any military operations against neighboring countries, emphasizing the need to respect Iraq’s sovereignty.
Regarding the work of the NATO Mission in Iraq, the Undersecretary commended the role played by the mission, expressing the Iraqi government’s readiness to provide the necessary support to enable it to perform its duties, contributing to strengthening Iraq’s defense and security capabilities, within the frameworks and approved bilateral agreements.
On his part, General Christophe Hintzy expressed his appreciation for the support provided by the Iraqi government to the NATO Mission, affirming the mission’s commitment to continuing cooperation with Iraqi military and security institutions through the exchange of expertise and information and providing technical advice, with the aim of contributing to the development of the efficiency of the Iraqi security services.
