Statement

The Foreign Ministry is following with deep concern the serious and accelerating escalation in the region, which have now extended to include attacks on brotherly nations, as seen in the attack on the State of Qatar, a development that Iraq has long warned could occur, given the serious risks it poses to the security and stability of the entire region.
This escalation signals the possibility of further tensions and represents a critical and unprecedented escalation in the conflict, amid Iraq’s consistent warnings regarding the serious risks posed by the involvement of additional actors in the conflict, which could lead to a broader confrontation and a further escalation of regional tensions.
The Ministry reaffirms Iraq’s principled and consistent position that the only viable path to resolving regional crises is through dialogue, adherence to diplomatic channels, and the rejection of military options, which only lead to more violence and human suffering.
The Ministry reiterates its calls for exercising
restraint, unifying efforts to halt the escalation, and prioritizing reason and shared interests in order to preserve the security and stability of the peoples of the region.
