Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein Meets Egyptian Foreign Minister in Istanbul to Discuss De-escalation Efforts and Support for Arab-Islamic Committee Proposal

On Saturday, June 21, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with the Foreign Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt, Mr. Badr Abdelatty, on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul.
During the meeting, the two ministers discussed the serious developments in the region resulting from the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well they affirmed the importance of intensifying diplomatic efforts and taking practical steps by all parties to reduce military escalation and prevent further deterioration in the regional situation.
The Egyptian Foreign Minister commended the proposal put forward by Minister Fuad Hussein during the emergency meeting of Arab foreign ministers, which called for the formation of an Arab-Islamic committee to open channels of communication and dialogue with the United States, European countries, and the Islamic Republic of Iran. The aim of the initiative is to reach a ceasefire and return to the path of political negotiations.
Both ministers stressed the importance of joint coordination and cooperation to prevent further escalation that could severely threaten the region’s security and stability. They underlined the need to preserve regional peace and to work together to avoid a wider conflict.
