Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Adviser for Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh to Discuss Bilateral Cooperation and Regional Developments

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, met with the Adviser for Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh Mr. Md. Touhid Hossain, on the sidelines of the 51st session of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), held in Istanbul.

During the meeting, both ministers discussed ways to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly in the political and economic fields, as well as regional and international developments of mutual concern. Both sides emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination on various issues to serve the shared interests of the two countries.

The two sides also exchanged views on the recent military escalation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Israeli entity, and its impact on the security and stability of the region. Mr. Fuad Hussein reaffirmed Iraq’s position in support of diplomatic solutions and stressed the need to activate international efforts to de-escalate tensions and return to dialogue to prevent further expansion of the conflict.

On his part, the Bangladeshi Adviser for Foreign Affairs expressed his country’s desire to expand cooperation with Iraq. He proposed signing a Memorandum of Understanding on visa exemption for holders of diplomatic and service passports, activating the mechanism for regular political consultations, and enhancing economic cooperation between the two countries.
