Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Discusses Regional Developments with French Ambassador and Affirms Iraq’s Rejection of Any violation of its Sovereignty

Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, received the Ambassador of the French Republic to Iraq, Mr. Patrick Durel, on Wednesday, June 18, 2025.
The meeting discussed the latest developments in the region, particularly the serious repercussions resulting from the Israeli aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. The Undersecretary affirmed the Iraqi government’s stance in rejecting this aggression, emphasizing the importance of respecting the national sovereignty of states.
Additionally, Undersecretary Bahr Aluloom, reiterated Iraq’s categorical rejection of the use of its airspace by the Israeli entity to carry out military operations against Iran, explaining that this position is borne out Iraq’s unwavering commitment to the principle of non-interference and respect for national sovereignty.
On his part, the French Ambassador expressed his country’s rejection for the expansion of the conflict in the region, noting France’s support for diplomatic efforts aimed at ending tensions through peaceful means. As well he referred to the efforts made by Paris in this regard, citing the French President’s statement describing the United States’ entry into the confrontation as a “strategic mistake”.
