Iraq and Egypt’s Foreign Ministers Discuss Ways to Contain Regional Escalation and Repercussions of the Attack on Iran

On Friday, June 13, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein held a phone call with Egypt’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Immigration and Expatriates Affairs Dr. Badr Abdelatty.

During the call, the two ministers exchanged information on ongoing consultations and communications being carried out by the foreign ministers with several regional and international countries, as part of joint efforts to contain the escalation and prevent the expansion of the conflict in the region.

Both sides condemned the military aggression on the Islamic Republic of Iran and emphasized the importance of respecting the sovereignty of states and avoiding further tensions.

The two ministers underlined the need to continue negotiations on the Iranian nuclear file and reiterated that diplomatic solutions remain the most effective path to avoid further deterioration.

Additionally they discussed potential future developments in light of the current escalation and stressed the importance of continued coordination between Iraq and Egypt, as well as the key role both countries play in supporting de-escalation efforts and maintaining regional peace and stability.
