Undersecretary for Bilateral Relations Receives Belgian Ambassador to Discuss Ways to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

The Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mr. Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, received non-resident Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Iraq, Mr. Serge Dickschen, at the Ministry’s headquarters in Baghdad on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
During the meeting, the two sides discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation between Iraq and Belgium and ways to develop it across various areas.
Undersecretary Bahr Aluloom, commended Belgium’s role in supporting Iraq in the fight against terrorism, through its active participation in the international coalition, as well as its contribution to the NATO advisory mission.
On his part, the Belgian Ambassador lauded the political and security stability in Iraq, which was positively reflected in its successful hosting of the recent Arab Summit. He also commended Iraq’s growing regional role, and expressed his admiration for the urban and cultural developments in Baghdad’s landmarks.
As well as the meeting witnessed a consensus on several regional and international issues, most notably the situation in Palestine. Both sides emphasized the need for a ceasefire in Gaza and the protection of civilians from killing and displacement.
