Iraq Elected as Member of Executive Board of United Nations Human Settlements Programme UN Habitat for 2025-2029

In a new diplomatic achievement, Iraq has been elected as a member of the Executive Board of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). The election took place during the second session of the UN-Habitat Assembly, held in Nairobi, Kenya.
The vote was held on Friday, May 30, 2025, and member states endorsed Iraq’s membership for the 2025-2029 term. This is the first time Iraq has been elected to this Executive Board. This marks the first time Iraq has secured a seat on this Executive Board, representing a significant step in strengthening its presence an important step towards strengthening its presence in international forums concerned with urban and sustainable development.
