Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Meets Senator Jacky Rosen and Senior U.S. Officials to Discuss Bilateral Relations and Regional Challenges

On May 30, 2025, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein met with U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen.
During the meeting, they discussed Iraqi-American relations across various sectors, particularly military and security cooperation. Both sides emphasized the importance of continuing joint efforts to combat terrorism, especially in confronting the remnants of Da’esh.
The discussions also covered developments in Iraq’s electoral process and the significance of strengthening the country’s democratic experience, while promoting greater engagement between Iraq’s democratic principles and those of other democratic countries.
Regional security challenges and crisis management mechanisms were also addressed, with both parties underlining the importance of continued U.S. support for Iraq in these areas.
The meeting further touched on the ongoing negotiations between Tehran and Washington. In addition the two sides exchanged views on areas of disagreement and common ground, stressing the need to reach understandings that support regional peace and stability.
The meeting was attended by Consul General Steven Bitner, Liz Leibowitz, Senior Adviser to Senator Rosen for Foreign Policy and National Security, and Robert Waisanen, Senior Advisor to Senator Rosen for Defense and National Security.
