Foreign Ministry Undersecretary Meets Members of Iraqi Community in Sweden to Discuss their Conditions and Ways to Support them

Baghdad, May 25, 2025, Undersecretary of the Foreign Ministry for Bilateral Relations, Ambassador Mohammed Hussein Bahr Aluloom, met with a number of the Iraqi community elites in Sweden. This meeting was part of Undersecretary Bahr Aluloom official visit to Sweden to discuss ways to strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Undersecretary reviewed the most important developments in Iraq, noting the security stability, economic growth, and tangible developments in various sectors, emphasizing that Iraq has become a promising and attractive investment environment, hosting important international conferences and receiving high-level delegations, as part of its growing regional role in consolidating stability in the region.
The meeting also addressed the situation of the Iraqi community in Sweden. In addition, the Undersecretary discussed a number of consular issues and proposals presented by members of the community, affirming the Iraqi government and the Foreign Ministry commitment to strengthening ongoing communication with Iraqis abroad and providing them with the necessary support. This will facilitate their affairs, deepen their connection to their homeland, and encourage them to contribute to its development.
The Undersecretary noted that the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq in the Kingdom of Sweden is a priority within the Iraqi government’s plans to install the electronic passport and the national card systems in a number of missions, with the aim of improving the level of consular services provided.
As well Undersecretary Bahr Aluloom affirmed the importance of investing in the expertise and competencies of Iraqis residing abroad, given their effective role in supporting development efforts in Iraq and enhancing cultural and knowledge exchange with host countries.
