Statement

The Foreign Ministry has reviewed a recently published report on one of the websites, which was also circulated by some media platforms under a misleading headline: “Trump gives Iran two weeks to withdraw its militias from Iraq”.

The report falsely claimed that Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mr. Fuad Hussein, conveyed a message from U.S. President Mr. Donald Trump, to the Iranian leadership regarding the topics mentioned in the headline.

In this regard, the Ministry affirms that the contents of this report are not based on any official source and represent an example of unprofessional media practices aimed at spreading false and misleading information. Such actions seek to negatively influence public opinion through a systematic attempt to distort the image of Iraq.

The Ministry underscores that the official statements and announcements issued by the Government of Iraq and the Foreign Ministry are the only reliable sources for any information concerning Iraq’s foreign policy, based on the principles of transparency and respect for international law.
